Choose the content before the ticket

The official notice effective 1 May 2026 lists adult palace-only admission at VND 40,000 and the palace plus the “From Norodom Palace to Independence Palace 1868–1966” exhibition at VND 80,000. Choose the first for a building-focused visit and the second if you also want the earlier site history. These are different inclusions, not competing prices for an identical ticket.

Two entrances with different ticket-office hours

Current official visiting hours are 07:00–18:00. Ticket sales at 135 Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa run 07:00–18:00, while 106 Nguyễn Du operates 08:00–16:00. Daily opening is subject to special notices. Give your driver the actual entrance, especially later in the day, rather than only the landmark name.

Closing time is not an arrival target

A ticket-office closing time does not guarantee a worthwhile last-minute visit. Reserve a block that does not compete with a meal booking or pickup, then adjust to the route available on arrival. Allow extra room for reading and walking if choosing the exhibition. With very little time left, ask which areas remain accessible and either accept a shortened visit or return another day.

Read the building through questions

This is an editorial approach, not an official tour route: start with the overview and chronology, then notice room functions, furniture arrangements and circulation in the areas open to visitors. Ask one or two questions per space: who used it, and what purpose did the design serve? Finish by comparing what stood out. In the historical exhibition, keep the periods distinct instead of treating every phase as the same building.

Plan for your group’s pace

Do not assume the entire route is sheltered, seated or step-free. If travelling with an older companion, stroller or mobility aid, ask the site about the usable entrance, lifts and reachable areas before going. Shorten the list when breaks are needed. Children can look for architectural details without climbing furniture or crossing barriers. Follow the site’s current photography, luggage and guiding arrangements.

Add one nearby stop, not another full itinerary

After the palace, choose a nearby lunch or coffee break before deciding on another attraction. If continuing to a war-related museum, leave room for an emotional and reading break rather than stacking every historical site into one day. Recheck the official notice and ticket page before departure. Sources were checked on 12 October 2026; current ticket conditions, hours and temporary closures take precedence.
