Confirm the site: Bến Đình and Bến Dược are different destinations

Official historical material identifies Bến Đình and Bến Dược as the two main preserved visitor areas. Put the Vietnamese name in your enquiry and confirm the actual entrance, drop-off and meeting point. “Cu Chi Tunnels” alone is not precise enough. Choose by the planned visit and complete transport arrangements; neither site needs to be presented as better for everyone, and a first visit does not need to cover both.

Choose by content and interpretation, not the tour label

If the Bến Dược memorial area matters to you, confirm it is included rather than assuming a tunnel visit covers it. For a Bến Đình offer, ask which displays and stops are planned. Facilities described in an older official brochure are not a promise that everything is open today. Name one or two priorities and have them checked for your date. Guide language, group size and time at the site can matter more than the tour’s title.

An above-ground visit needs its own plan

If confined, dim passages or crouching do not appeal, ask about a route using surface displays, films and commemorative spaces, including any separate tickets. There is no need to enter a tunnel to keep up with companions. Above ground can still mean uneven surfaces, steps and outdoor walking. For access needs, ask about specific entrances and facilities rather than only whether the site is “easy.”

  • Listen to staff before entering, stay on open visitor routes and tell the guide if you want to stop
  • If splitting the group, agree an above-ground meeting point and contact method; never enter closed areas

Half-day or full-day: compare door-to-door time

Củ Chi is outside the central sightseeing area. Two hours at the site does not mean a two-hour outing. Compare hotel departure, other pickups, road stops, visiting, meals and the return. Ask for the expected range for getting back to your accommodation, not just a departure time. If you have a flight or a fixed evening commitment, allow for road delays or choose a different day.

  • For public transport, verify current routes, transfers and last services; bus numbers in an old brochure are only research leads
  • For a hired car or transfer, confirm the specific site, waiting allowance and return cost

Read the quote by component

Ask for written inclusions covering transport, admission, guide language, meals, water, meeting point and any shopping or optional stops. “Admission included” does not necessarily cover every display or activity. This article does not confirm current admission prices or bookable places, and visiting the tunnels does not mean taking part in extras. Read cancellation, date-change and late-arrival terms before paying.

Prepare to understand the site, not complete a challenge

Wear shoes for outdoor walking and bring water, rain protection and a light day bag. Keep memorial spaces quiet and check photography notices. Useful questions include how daily life was organized, how surface and underground spaces worked together, and which exhibits are original or reconstructed. The UNESCO page checked on 11 October 2026 is a Tentative List entry, not inscription on the World Heritage List.
